Dungeness RNLI lifeboat responded to yacht with rudder problems in force seven winds.

On Saturday 7 November, 2009 at 22.45 hours, the Dungeness RNLI lifeboat 'Pride and Spirit' responded to a call from a yacht 4 miles from Dungeness Point with rudder problems, in force seven winds with squally showers. The casualty was on passage from Portsmouth to London Bridge with four persons on board when their rudder broke. Deputy Coxswain Roger Gillett, in command of the RNLI lifeboat said 'it was unfortunate their rudder was damaged as the casualty was well prepared for the weather conditions at that time, however the safety of the four persons on board was our priority so in the heavy swells, we slowly towed the casualty to Dover Harbour for repairs returning to Dungeness at 03.30 hours the next morning'
