Dungeness RNLI lifeboat rescues four people from their 36' yacht broken down in the shipping lane of the English Channel
Dungeness RNLI lifeboat 'Pride and Spirit' was called to the yacht 'Vaga A' - 9 miles south east of Dungeness, on passage from Eastbourne to Boulogne last Friday night (2nd May) at 9 pm with a fouled propeller and four persons on board. The casualty was towed to safe anchorage in Dover Harbour.
Coxswain Stuart Adams (48) said ' Picture being broken down with your car at night on the busiest stretch of the M 25 – any minute one of the huge lorries rushing past could hit you. Sounds like a nightmare? Worse things can happen to a skipper at sea.
The casualties must have been utterly terrified, marooned on a small craft unable to manoeuvre, stuck in the middle of one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. Certainly the sight of our lifeboat was a tremendous relief to the people on board'
