News Release - 1 July 2008

Demasted Yacht with engine failure calls for assistance from Dungeness RNLI lifeboat.

The demasted 10 m yacht 'Quintette Too' called the Dungeness RNLI lifeboat for assistance when it developed intermittent engine problems, 9 miles south of Dungeness Point on passage from Holland to Brighton with two persons on board.
Coxswain Stuart Adams, in charge of the RNLI lifeboat put deputy coxswain Mark Richardson aboard casualty to assess the situation and decided to tow the yacht to safe anchorage in Sovereign Harbour at Eastbourne. Hastings RNLI lifeboat launched to take over the tow to allow the Dungeness RNLI lifeboat to return to its own area.
