Roger Gillet


Roger was a crew member at Littlestone before joining Dungeness in 1997, he was made Second Coxswain in August 2013 and is also retained Second Mechanic, he lives locally.

In 2007 he received a Director of Operations Letter of Thanks. In 2012 he was awarded a Silver Service Medal Badge, Certificate and a Letter of Appreciation for the rescue of seven people in hurricane force winds from the yacht Liquid Vortex on 3 January, 2012. In 2012 he also was awarded the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal.

He was an Engineer at the local Nuclear Power Station and retired in 2008, he lists his hobbies as boating, fishing and walking.

Roger took up the position of Lifeboat Operations Manager on 1st July 2016. In 2019 Roger was awarded the Ecvellence in Volunteering Award by the `RNLI.
