Dungeness Lifeboat Crew/Navigator

Simon Collins


Simon was a crew member on Littlestone lifeboat before joining Dungeness lifeboat in 2004. In 2006 he received a Director of Operations letter of thanks. In 2012 he was awarded an RNLI Silver Service Medal Badge, Certificate and a Letter of Thanks for the rescue of seven people in hurricane force winds from the yacht Liquid Vortex on 3 January, 2012. In 2012 he was also awarded the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal. Previous to joining the lifeboat service he was a Royal Navy seaman.

He lives in Dungeness and is a postman, in 2010 Simon won the Royal Mail National Community Award. He has five children and his hobbies include sports, computing and travelling.
