Dungeness Lifeboat Crew

Stuart Richardson

Stuart joined the crew at the age of 17 in 1987 as crew and emergency mechanic. He worked his way up to be second coxswain here at Dungeness RNLI but in 2002 he joined the newly established Tower lifeboat station on the Thames as a full-time helmsman/mechanic.  In 2007 he transferred to be Coxswain at Dover lifeboat station until 2010 when he returned to Tower

He left the RNLI in 2013 when he moved away to work in the wind farm industry, obtaining his 200 ton and 500 ton qualifications.

In 2018 he returned to live nearby at Lydd On Sea and still works as a Fleet Marine Superintendent with wind farms and so has now rejoined the volunteer crew at Dungeness.
