The RNLI award a silver statuette to DLA (deputy launching authority) at Dungeness RNLI lifeboat station
The chairman of the Dungeness RNLI lifeboat management committee Peter Thomas presented on behalf of the RNLI, a silver statuette and framed letter of thanks to Peter Stretton from Littlestone, Kent in recognition of his voluntary and lengthy contribution to the RNLI.
Peter, a retired power station engineer joined the Littlestone RNLI lifeboat station as a crew member in the 1970's and went on to join the Dungeness lifeboat crew when he reached the maximum age limit for the inshore lifeboat. After his retirement from the crew at Dungeness he progressed to be a station tractor driver and when he retired from that position he took on the appointment of the deputy launching authority and remains in this voluntary position today.
